To acquire new units and gear through summoning (beyond the free summons provided by the game), you will need to spend gems. There is no way to farm an infinite supply of gems, but there are quite a few free sources of gems in the game and in addition you can purchase gems if you want to be more aggressive about spending gems on banners.

Recurring Permanent Sources[ | ]

These sources of gems are repeatable on a regular basis.

Daily Milestones[ | ]

You can acquire 205 gems a day from the Daily Milestones and an additional 500 gems each week from the weekly milestone for a total of 1935 gems a week. During special events, there are often additional milestones available for gems. If you subscribe to the Alchemist Pact, your 100 daily gems from this will also appear here. If you subscribe to the Premium Subscription your additional gems will appear in your mailbox.

Login Bonuses[ | ]

The standard login bonus gives a total of 1000 gems a month, with specific quantities on certain days of the month. In addition, during special events there are sometimes extra gems provided via login bonuses.

Alchemia Port[ | ]

Attendance rewards from an active alchemia port can give up to 50 gems a day.

Arena[ | ]

The amount of gems you get from arena weekly will vary based on how well you do, but you should play 5 games per day regardless for the coins, and over time you will be able to get more gems from winning streaks and the weekly ranking rewards.

One Time Sources[ | ]

As a new player, you start with 500 gem and 200 gems from immediately available milestones. You also can immediately get 750 gems returned from the new player event board after spending 500 gems on a banner. In addition, you can acquire quite a few gems from non-repeatable sources, and you get bonus daily milestones with an additional 250 gems for the first 7 days.

Story Milestones[ | ]

The story milestone rewards give 50 gems for every other completed story quest. Currently the total reward for clearing all story quests is 17,250 gems and keeps increasing with every new story act.

Challenges[ | ]

There are challenge boards available to complete which provide various rewards as you progress through story content and they can include gem rewards. During limited time events sometimes additional challenge boards will be provided with gem rewards.

Permanent Events[ | ]

There are several permanent events available which can give gems when completed. The most lucrative of these is the series of Sacred Stone Memories quests, which gives 12,240 gems if you complete all the chapters. There are also 5,900 gems available in Babel Chronicles, which provide you units to use for the regular quests so can be cleared even if you are new and don't yet have strong units (you use your own units for the EX quests).

Limited Time Events[ | ]

There are many limited time events available which often have some gems as a reward from milestones. Most events are eventually rerun, so if you miss them the first time you will have another opportunity to do them later. You can only complete milestones from an event once- if you complete them and the event is rerun you can't do the milestones a second time.

Event Archives[ | ]

The event archives contain many previous limited time events that can now be unlocked anytime. You can unlock one a day for free for 24 hours, and if you have keys you can unlock extra. Many of these events have gem rewards.

First Meeting Bonus[ | ]

As a new player, the first 50 players you meet in multiplayer will earn you gems, for a total of 4000 gems.

Other[ | ]

On rare occasions we may also get gems from compensation for game issues, or from special one time community rewards.

Recurring Event Sources[ | ]

Box Events[ | ]

Box events are a specific type of limited time event where you collect boss tickets, then use them to fight a boss (potentially over multiple attempts) to get coins which you can use to summon items from a box of fixed rewards. Most box events have a good amount of gems in box 1-4 (there are a few that don't have gems). There are also typically gems as a reward from clearing the quest missions from box events.

Raids[ | ]

Raids are events where you fight bosses (potentially over multiple attempts) and can receive assistance to clear your bosses, typically from people in your Alchemia Port. There are gem rewards based on the ranking of your port when the raid completes, and there are also typically gems rewarded for clearing specific areas or laps in a raid.

PvP[ | ]

Live PvP matches are occasionally available. During a PvP season there are typically milestones for winning games which give gems, and there are also gems rewarded based on your division and season ranking.

Mystic World Mobius[ | ]

This event is periodically available under trials and is a 2 player multiplayer tower. Each time it returns the rewards are reset, so you can get a fairly significant amount of gems from it on each rerun. It has not rerun in a while and it's unclear if it will run again.

Purchases[ | ]

In addition to the free sources of gems in the game, you can also purchase gems. For more detail about optimizing spending, see the Spending Guide.
